The patent pending Teleaudio System has been developed by Edelpro as an aid for blinds. The system performs the transmission of one or more auxiliary audio tracks into a standard analog video signal. Audio tracks can be used to describe the current scenes.
Each audio track is digitized, compressed and inserted into the video frame as Teletex data packets. A decoder, connected to the AV interface of the home TV set, extracts the Teleaudio packets, giving back the original audio signal.
Edelpro also designed the ASIC for the Decoder. The ASIC performs the extraction, the storage and the handling of audio data from the incoming Teletext packets. The design of the Teleaudio ASIC was financed by EC under the MEPI-SUMIS Special Action.
